Traditional Onam Sadya served on a banana leaf with Matta rice, pappadam, avial, olan, pickles and payasam at Lords83 resort in Wayanad

An Onam Sadya is less a meal than a gathering that happens to be built around food. This year we are hosting it at Lords83 in Wayanad, and if you are still deciding where your family, friends or team will sit down for Sadya this season, here is everything you need to know.

Pookalam and Sadya: The Complete Onam Setting

Before the meal begins, guests are welcomed by a Pookalam at the entrance, the floral carpet that signals Onam has arrived. Fresh flowers, laid by hand, set the tone for what follows. The Pookalam and the Sadya are the two things that make Onam feel like Onam, and both are part of your celebration here.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Minimum group size: A minimum of 25 guests is required to arrange the Sadya.
  2. Advance notice: Prior confirmation is required at least 3 days before the scheduled date of the Sadya.

Group and Corporate Bookings

Because the Sadya is prepared for 25 guests and above, it suits larger gatherings rather than a table for two. It works particularly well for:

  • Extended family gatherings, where relatives come together for the festival
  • Friend groups marking Onam with a proper sit-down meal
  • Corporate teams, for whom Onam is one of the best reasons of the year to plan an outing

For corporate groups, the Sadya pairs naturally with the rest of the resort for a full day out. Timing, seating and dietary requirements across a mixed team are all arranged directly with our team over a call.

When Onam 2026 Falls

Thiruvonam, the main day of the festival, falls on August 26, 2026. With 3 days of advance notice required and group Sadyas filling up around this window, it is best to confirm your date as early as you can.

Why Wayanad for Onam

Onam in a city usually means a booked hall and a drive through traffic. In Wayanad it means cool hill air, green on every side, and a pace that actually matches the festival. You are welcome to join us for the Sadya alone, or turn it into a short break: our rooms and suites can be booked separately around your visit.

How to Book

Sadya bookings are handled directly over a call, given the group size and notice period involved. Call us at +91 7591 985 985 with your preferred date, guest count and any dietary requirements, and we will confirm your booking.
